Avon & Somerset PCC elections go to second count

The election for the new post of Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset will go to a second count. The first count put the Independendent candidate ahead with the Conservatives in second place. The two others will now step aside for them to battle it out over voters' second choices.

15% turnout in PCC elections across Devon and Cornwall

An average of just 15% turned out to vote in the Police and Crime Commissioner elections across Devon and Cornwall.

Plymouth saw the lowest turnout with just 13% of the electorate voting.

Counting will begin later this morning across the Westcountry. Whoever is elected to the newly created role will oversee the regions police forces.
