A man in his forties has died after being hit by a lorry on the M5 motorway near Tewkesbury.The collision caused major hold-ups on the motorway because police closed two lanes for several hours.

Gloucestershire Police are appealing for information about how the pedestrian came to be on the motorway.The man was pronounced dead at the scene.Police are appealing for witnesses.

A man has died after he was hit by a lorry on the M5 in Gloucestershire. It happened between junction 10 and 9 at 6pm last night, closing the motorway northbound from junction 11 at Cheltenham in Gloucestershire, to junction 9 at Tewkesbury.

We had a call shortly before 6pm, with a lorry reported to have struck a pedestrian on the M5.

The paramedic first on the scene reported back that a single male patient was involved, and the pedestrian appeared to be fatal at the scene.
