Teachers at a Cornish primary school went on strike today in a dispute over their terms and conditions. The strike, at Hay-moor Heamoor Community School near Penzance, is the only one to have been called over the issue in the South West.
Most parents said they supported the teachers. But the governors said they had "significant reservations." More strikes are planned if a deal can't be reached. From Penzance, here's our Cornwall correspondent Steve Hardy.
Hannah Packham from the National Union of Teachers spoke to us from outside Haemoor Primary School near Penzance where some staff are taking action over workloads. She says the situation is very rare.
Teachers taking part in the strike over workloads picketed the school this morning. Three out of seven classes at Heamoor Primary School near Penzance were affected by the action, the first of its kind in a school in the south west.
Teachers at a school in Penzance are on strike today. Heamoor Primary School will be closed to the majority of pupils due to industrial action by six teachers. It's part of a national campaign over claims of increased workload and changes to pay and conditions.
