Police are investigating alleged abuse by two Bristol care home staff on an elderly resident.

Allegations are being taken "extremely seriously"

A spokesman from Shaw Healthcare on behalf of the home said the allegation was being taken "extremely seriously".

Members of staff connected to the incident have since been suspended, pending the outcome of a police and our own investigation.

We acknowledge the anxiety and distress that this has caused the resident and their family and we also wanted to have the opportunity to reassure the other residents and families so have held meetings to update them on the situation and let them know that we are taking the matter extremely seriously."

A previous CQC inspection of The Granary highlighted some areas for improvement, but the care home owners say it is "unrelated to the current situation."


Police investigate alleged abuse

We are working with our multi-agency partners to look into concerns raised about the care of an elderly resident at a care home in Wraxall, North Somerset.

Two care home staff held over 'assault'

Police have arrested two North Somerset care home staff on suspicion of assaulting and neglecting an elderly resident. The men, who have not been named, were arrested by Avon and Somerset Police following a reported incident at The Granary in Lodge Lane, in Wraxall.

Both men have been bailed and suspended from their positions pending the investigation at the home.
