Cornwall Council have backed plans to turn land currently used as a running track into a retail park.

Earlier this year, hundreds gathered outside the Carn Brea leisure centre in Camborne to protest against plans to sell the whole site.

Under current proposals, only the running track would be sold and moved to a new home at Redruth School.

The proceeds would then be used to refurbish the leisure centre.

'Don't turn our leisure centre into a retail park'

More than 100 people gathered outside a leisure centre in Cornwall this morning to fight against plans to turn it into a retail park.

Carn Brea Leisure Centre in Camborne has been serving the community for 40 years, but Cornwall Council is looking at selling it off to developers - meaning the town could be left with nothing.

Protesters, along with Councillor Jude Robinson, Camborne North, Labour.
