Latest reports say it is believed that a male driver had got out of the car to take a photograph. The car then bumped into another car before rolling from the slipway. it is believed a woman passenger was still inside the car. The car has now been winched from the water.
CCTV from King Harry Ferry Headquarters shows a car bumped into another car on the slipway, that car gets out of the way, then the car drives into the river. Our reporter at the scene says that some people there are saying no-one was in the car but coastguard says there was a woman.
CCTV show the car went in with an almighty splash. it looks like a handbrake fail from the pictures. Ferry was on the other side of the Fal River.
Witnesses at the scene say the incident was reported by the ferry crew who heard a big splash as the car went into the water. RNAS Culdrose, Coastguards and Falmouth Lifeboat are all at the scene as an operation is now underway to winch the car out of the water.
Police say the car is being winched out of the Fal River. There is still no confirmation if there were any passengers inside but we have got confirmation that the female driver got out safely.
A car has gone into the Fal River at the King Harry Ferry slipway. Witnesses say the car sank in 10 seconds. The female driver is believed to have escaped but there may be other passengers in the vehicle. Devon and Cornwall Fire Service have confirmed they are at the scene along with coastguards.
