The Independent Police Complaints Commission has issued a statement regarding its investigation into the circumstances of the shooting of a 47-year-old man by Avon and Somerset police officers on 7 May 2013 in Minsmere Road, Keynsham, near Bristol.
An emergency call was made to the police by a woman at about 6.10pm, who reported a man at the property was making threats with a firearm.
A police armed response unit was sent to the address. As a result of the shooting, the man is currently in Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, where he is being treated for injuries to his leg.
A man is under arrest in hospital tonight after being shot in the leg by police.

Police say they opened fire after being threatened by the armed man who was in a wheelchair and who is registered disabled. The road where the drama unfolded in front of shocked neighbours has been closed while investigations continue.

Police who shot a man in Keynsham have confirmed they were responding to a domestic incident involving a firearm.
The matter has been referred to the IPCC and the Force's Professional Standards Department.
A man in his 40s, who uses a wheelchair, was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Officers say they were threatened by a man with a firearm.
The injured man is under arrest and in a stable condition in hospital.

Shortly after 6pm Avon and Somerset Police were called to an address on the road. Upon arrival, officers say they were threatened with a firearm by an unnamed man.
As a result, police officers at the scene opened fire. The man who was shot is now in hospital with non-life threatning injuries.
The road is still closed.
