A man has died after a car came off a cliff in Newquay this morning.
It is understood the car landed just above the water line due to the tide going out.
Coastguard Matt Pavitt talks to ITV Westcountry about measures being taken to secure the car.
Police have said the primary focus in Newquay now is to remove the car as quickly as possible as it is in a precarious position.
Police are urging people not to try and look over the cliff.
The emergency authorities were called to reports of a car going over a cliff near to the Atlantic Hotel and Tea Cavens in Newquay at around 7.15 this morning.
Falmouth Coastguard’s search and rescue helicopter was deployed, and fire and ambulance were also called to the scene. It is understood the car landed just above the water line due to the tide going out.
A man was declared dead at the scene. His body is being recovered and taken to Treliske hospital. His family have been made aware.
A police investigation will now be carried out into the incident.
