Cross-channel ferry resumes

Cross channel ferry services are about to start again from Weymouth - a year and a half after they were stopped suddenly when the quayside started to collapse.

The Condor Ferry service between Weymouth and the Channel Islands relaunches today. Ferries have been diverted to Poole for the last 17 months since a harbour wall collapsed. Repairs have cost nearly £4.5 million.

Over 350 passengers have booked their place on the first ferry to the Channel Islands which leaves later this morning.

Cross channel ferry services resume from Weymouth tomorrow a year and a half after they were stopped suddenly when the quayside started to collapse.

Services were diverted along the coast to Poole which meant a devastating blow to local businesses. The harbour has now been rebuilt at a cost of four and half million pounds:
