Bristol's Mayor says he will deliver on his election promise to build a 12,000 seat stadium in the city, even though his bid for a £40 million Government grant has been turned down.
Councillors say he clearly didn't get the application right. But Mayor George Ferguson says the money will be found - he's comparing it to getting a very big mortgage.
Bristol Mayor George Ferguson insists that an arena for the city is still on track, despite it being turned down for £40million of government funding.
Mr Ferguson pledged to deliver the 12 thousand seater venue on land at Temple Meads at his election.
He says he'll now seek other funding. The project has already secured £11million for roads and other infrastructure. A bid for £35million to refurbish the Colston Hall was also turned down.
