There are many names we instantly associate with Bristol - Brunel, Banksy, even Gromit! - but never Elizabeth Blackwell. Despite being born in the city, few know of her pioneering work as the first ever female doctor.
That could be about to change, though. The University of Bristol is aiming to continue the work Blackwell started - with a new multi-million pound health research institute.
