International adventurer and Chief Scout Bear Grylls is making a flying visit to Cornwall today. He'll arrive by helicopter with comedian David Walliams for the Cornwall International Scout Jamboree.

Bear's mission : to recruit more Scout volunteers

Chief Scout Bear Grylls will meet 8,000 Scouts that are taking park in Jamboree camps nationally. His first visit - Cornwall International Jamboree in Washaway. Bear and the scouts will take part in a range of activities to show what Scouting is all about.

The trip is part of Bear’s plan to visit the whole of the UK during his time as Chief Scout. Bear’s mission is to encourage more adults to volunteer for Scouting.

The Scout Association is the largest co-educational youth movement in the country, with membership of almost 540,000 following eight consecutive years of growth. But with waiting lists standing at almost 38,000 nationally, the Movement is in desperate need of more adult volunteers.
