The pilot killed after his light aircraft crashed into land at Downside School in Somerset yesterday has been identified as Glenn Paeckmeyer.
The 66 year old from Hertfordshire was the director of ABC Charter, the registered owners of the Socata Tobago TB-10 four seater aircraft involved in the crash.
Emergency services are at the scene of a plane crash near Downside Abbey in Somerset. The male pilot died in the crash earlier today. Witnesses have reported that it sounded as if the light aircraft was carrying out aerobatics shortly before it came down.
It had taken off in Somerset and was believed to be flying to the Home Counties before the accident. Staff at the independent Catholic school said that all pupils were safe and well. The Air Accident Investigation Branch is looking into the cause of the crash.
Air accident investigators are on their way to Stratton on the Fosse in Somerset where a light aeroplane came down killing its pilot earlier today. It's thought the plane had taken off from a location in Somerset before crashing into the grounds of Downside Abbey.
The site is also home to Downside School. No children or staff were harmed in the incident.
