A large fire at an industrial park in Chivenor is being treated as arson.
Up to 40 cars and minibuses were damaged when the fire broke out at the Chivenor Trade Centre near Braunton in the early hours of Saturday. Properties nearby also had to be evacuated.
Fire Service Commander Neil Blackburn tells ITV West Country that the police and fire service have an open mind regarding the cause of this morning's fire. They are investigating the possibility that it was an arson attack.
Devon and Somerset Fire Service has spent the early hours of this morning tackling a huge blaze at Chivenor Business Park, Devon. 14 cars and 19 minibuses belonging to Chivenor Car Hire have been destroyed.
It took 35 firefighters to extinguish the blaze. The operation was further complicated by the need to isolate a nearby gas supply. A police and fire service investigation is now underway.
