Exmouth gets state-of-the-art lifeboat

Exmouth's lifeboat station will become the first in the South West to take possession of a Shannon Class lifeboat - the most agile craft in the fleet. The RNLI has already got one in action - based at Poole - but ready to go anywhere in the country.

The boats are powered by water jets, rather than propellers. This makes them lighter, more agile, and able to navigate through very shallow water.

It will be in Exmouth in late Spring but fully operational by the start of the summer.
