Grandmother pays tribute to Kayleigh-Anne

The grandmother of a 16-year-old girl who died after being attacked at a house in Cheltenham has been describing the heartbreaking moment when she had to say goodbye to her granddaughter.

Kayleigh-Anne Palmer was in an induced coma for three days at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

18-year-old Aston Robinson from Cheltenham has been charged with her attempted murder.

Her grandmother Carole Bage has been speaking to our Gloucestershire Correspondent Ken Goodwin:

"Saying goodbye was so hard"

The grandmother of 16 year old Kayleigh-Anne Palmer, who died after being attacked at a house in Cheltenham last week, has been describing the heartbreaking moment when she said goodbye to her grand daughter.

Kay - as she was known to her friends - was in an induced coma for three days fighting for her life at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

Friends plan ceremony in memory of teenager

Friends of a pregnant schoolgirl who died after being strangled with a scarf will release balloons in her memory next week.The ceremony for Kayleigh-Anne Palmer, 16, has been organised via Facebook.

More than 1,300 people have already joined the group set up in her memory. Many paying trubute to the teenager who 'was always smiling.'

Kayleigh-Anne's boyfriend Aston Robinson, 18, is in custody after appearing before magistrates in Cheltenham last Friday accused of attempting to murder her.

At that stage she was still alive but she died the next day.

Friends will meet outside Pittville Pump Rooms in Cheltenham on Good Friday for the balloon releasing ceremony.

Police review charges following Cheltenham death

Gloucestershire Police say they are considering further charges in connection with the death of Kayleigh-Anne Palmer, who died following an assault at a house in Cheltenham. The 16-year-old schoolgirl was five months pregnant.

Her boyfriend Aston Robinson has already been charged with attempted murder but this is now under review.

Following the arrest and charge of 18-year-old Aston Robinson in relation to a serious assault on Kayleigh-Anne Palmer in Humber Road in Cheltenham on Wednesday 2 April, Gloucestershire Police can confirm officers are now reviewing whether any further charges should be brought against him in light of Kayleigh-Anne's death and the death of her unborn child following the assault.

Family pays tribute to Kayleigh-Anne

The family of 16-year-old Kayleigh-Anne Palmer, who died over the weekend, has paid tribute to her memory.

Her mother, Helen Bage said: “Kay was my whole world. We had a strong relationship filled with love and laughter. Our bond was so strong we were best friends.

“Kay was so beautiful inside and out. She was very loving towards family and friends and always remained loyal to us all.

“You always knew when Kay was around because she had the most wicked sense of humour and always made people laugh.

“Her personality lit up every room she entered.”

Kayleigh-Anne’s father Dean Palmer said: “Kay was my beautiful daughter. She was great company and had a great sense of humour.

“I was the first to hold her and I’m devastated she won’t ever get the chance to hold her baby.”

Kayleigh-Anne’s grandparents Michael and Carole Bage said: “From the moment our grand-daughter Kay was born, we were privileged to be a part of her life.

”We gave her our unconditional love and in return she gave us so much more.

"Both she and her friends filled our home for many years with fun and laughter but sadly this can be no longer.

"Thankfully, nothing is more precious than all the memories we hold dear of our beautiful Kay who was so very special to us".

A teenager has died three days after being attacked at a house in Cheltenham. 16-year-old Kayleigh Palmer died at the weekend in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Last week her boyfriend was remanded in custody charged with attempted murder.
