The World Pilot Gig Championships are took place on the Isles of Scilly this bank holiday weekend. 3000 rowers were on the islands: a thousand more than the number of people living there.

Final day of racing on the Isles of Scilly

The world gig championships on the Isles of Scilly have finished after a record-breaking three days. More than 140 boats took part on the event's 25th anniversary. Falmouth Gig Club won both the women's and men's finals - and were crowned the world champions.

Falmouth retain titles as Gig Championships end

The World Gig Championships have just finished on the Isles of Scilly. Falmouth have retained both the women's and men's titles.

It's the 25th anniversary of the event and the organisers are confident they'll be another 25 years, despite calls from some for it to be held on the mainland. From St Mary's, Steve Hardy reports
