David Cameron has spent the weekend in Cornwall, despite criticism for resuming his holiday at a time of crisis. The Prime Minister - seen here surfing at Polzeath beach - went back to Downing Street following the execution of US journalist James Foley. B - only to return to the duchy the next day.

Downing Street statement on PM's early return to work

If true, the brutal murder of James Foley is shocking and depraved.

The Prime Minister is returning to Downing Street this morning. He will meet with the Foreign Secretary and senior officials from the Home Office, Foreign Office and the agencies to discuss the situation in Iraq and Syria and the threat posed by ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) terrorists.
