Plymouth has been chosen to host a popular music festival for the next three years.

The success of this summer's 'MTV Crashes' event means organisers are also planning to extend it to two nights instead of one.

More than 20,000 people turned out for July's gig on the Hoe - and millions of people saw it across the music channel's global network.

It featured the Kaiser Chiefs among the headliners.

We’re chuffed to bits that MTV want to come again and want to be in partnership with us over three years.

Anyone who was on the Hoe this summer will know what an epic event it was. The crowds loved it, the bands loved it, MTV loved it and millions of people across the world got to see Plymouth at its best.

This decision marks the start of a lot of hard work for our staff and partners to make this happen. It will be bigger, better – and with more beer tents!

– Councillor Peter Smith, Plymouth City Council

Plymouth City Council has agreed to underwrite MTV Crashes as it has major economic benefits for the city.

Ticket details and prices will be announced in the New Year.
