It has emerged that a tree planted to commemorate the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has been uprooted and stolen from Tetbury churchyard.
The theft took place from St Mary the Virgin and St Mary Magdalen, Church Street, sometime between 21 and 28 November.
The offenders pulled out the six feet high ‘wedding cake’ tree (‘Cornus Controversa Variegata’), which had been planted in 2011 by The Duchess of Cornwall in honour of the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
It is owned by Tetbury Town Council.
