The Bishop of Gloucester will become the first female Bishop to take a seat in the House of Lords.
A formal ceremony will be held today to introduce Rachel Treweek to parliament. She will be supported by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby. Bishop Treweek became the first female Bishop in July.
Rachel Treweek will become Gloucestershire's first woman bishop when she is consecrated by the Archbishop of Canterbury today.
She will take on the most senior role of all female bishops and becomes the first woman in the Church of England to be consecrated as a diocesan bishop.
Hundreds of well wishers are expected to make the journey from Gloucestershire.
While in Truro, Archbishop Justin Welby said it was vital for the church to help those who are less well-off.
The new Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby has been in Cornwall just days before his enthronement.
He met schoolchildren in Truro and then walked to the cathedral. He said it was important for the church to focus on issues which affected people in everyday life.
