Bristol Sport Ltd and the Bristol Academy Flyers Basketball Club have signed a deal to bring top-flight professional basketball to the city from 2014.

The Bristol Flyers will compete as a brand new basketball franchise in the British Basketball League competitions from the 2014/15 campaign onwards.

Bristol Sport chairman Martin Griffiths says:

“This is a really exciting opportunity for sport in Bristol, and for basketball in particular. We want to see everyone in Bristol given the best possible chance to enjoy what sport brings, including the chance to support local teams on the national stage, or even to compete at the elite level".
