Dartmouth care home under investigation: full report

Five residents have already been removed to be cared for in hospital and Devon County Council has suspended making any new admissions to the home until concerns are fully resolved.

Statement following care home investigation

The European Care Group, which runs the River View Care Centre in Dartmouth has released a statement following news that police have begun an investigation into the care of residents.

I can confirm that we are working in partnership with the NHS Trust, the Local Authority and all appropriate agencies to address care standards at the home.

The health and wellbeing of the people we support is our absolute priority. We are carrying out a thorough internal investigation so that we learn from this and so that we can make sure a similar situation does not occur again. We will continue to keep residents, families and all relevant authorities fully updated.

Police say five residents have been moved to community hospitals and staff from outside have been brought in to manage other residents.

We have brought in a new dedicated and experienced Management Team to support the home. We have also increased staff numbers to ensure we can immediately build on care quality standards._
