Work has started to transform Duchy of Cornwall land in Newquay into a community garden.

Newquay Community Orchard will include an allotment, cafe and a five acre Cornish apple orchard.

Those behind the project say it'll help people back to work and back to health.

Rather than sitting at home and waiting for a job I'm going out and doing something I can say to employers that I am actually volunteering in the community it makes me feel good.

Should Prince Charles pay tax?

The treasury is being urged to investigate whether Prince Charles's Duchy of Cornwall estate has an unfair advantage over its commercial rivals.

The Duchy is a portfolio of land, property and investments all over the South West, but it doesn't have to pay corporation tax or capital gains tax.

Last year it generated more than £28m. Prince Charles uses the money to fund his public duties.

Duchy gets go ahead to build in east Truro

Controversial plans to build on Duchy of Cornwall farmland on the edge of Truro have been given the go-ahead after a high court battle.

Truro City Council had taken the proposals, which include a Waitrose supermarket, park and ride, and nearly 100 homes, to a judicial review.

It said it would mean the loss of prime agricultural land and hit city centre trade. But today the judge rejected its challenge.

The council was unavailable for comment.
