One of the West Country's most colourful events got underway today. The Taunton Flower Show has been going since 1831 - making it the oldest event of its kind in the country. It features more than 2 thousand exhibits. And, as Jeff Welch reports, this year it has a majestic feel.
The Duchess of Cornwall has been in Exeter today, visiting a Flower Festival at the city's cathedral. More than 300 flower arrangers have created thousands of displays celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
The Duchess met dignitaries and local school children on her whistle-stop tour, as Kathy Wardle reports.
The Duchess of Cornwall will visit Exeter Cathedral today to see the flower festival. It's being held to mark the Queen's Jubilee and to raise funds to restore the Cathedral's organ and the library.
The first flower festival in 13 years starts this morning at Exeter Cathedral. It marks the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the culmination of an appeal to raise funds for restoration projects. The event which runs until Sunday will showcase the work of the Cathedral's 65 flower arrangers.
Cornwall Garden Society's 100th Spring Flower Show is taking place this weekend. The event, dubbed Cornwall's Chelsea Flower Show, is being held at the Boconnoc estate near Lostwithiel.
There are many classes, plus growers and exhibitors, including Tresco Abbey Gardens from the Isles of Scilly.
