A 69-year old man has been charged over alleged sexual assaults at a school in Devon during the 1970s.
John McKno of Alby Hill in North Norfolk was charged yesterday evening with a total of 16 sexual assaults against three children at schools in Devon and Suffolk.
Eight of the alleged incidents occurred at the former Beam College in Great Torrington between 1978 and 1979. Mr McKno has been charged with four counts of sexual assault with a boy under 16, and four counts of indecent assault on a a boy under 14. All eight charges relate to one victim.
John McKno is also accused of abusing two boys at the former Kesgrave Hall boarding school in Suffolk between 1986 and 1987.
He has been released on police bail to appear at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 14 April.
The Jubilee festivities have begun in style in Great Torrington. Shoppers were treated to a performance by children's TV star Wynndebagge as well as Morris Dancers and other entertainment. Today's events were part of a series of celebrations including a 'Big Beacon Party' on Monday.
