A new department store due to open in Exeter has announced the first three community projects it plans to support. John Lewis Exeter says its Community Matters scheme will help St. Petrock's, a local homeless, Force cancer and Balloons children's bereavement charities.
The opening date for the new John Lewis shop in Exeter has been announced. The department store will open its doors for the first time at 9am on Friday 12th October.
The 17 million pound project is still taking shape. The store will eventually employ 300 people.
On the day that unemployment in the south west fell by 5,000 in the three months to April, there is still huge competition for jobs. John Lewis says it has had 3,000 applications for 300 jobs at its new department store in Exeter.
