Military Wives and War Horse help launch Poppy Appeal

The Poppy Appeal was launched at various ceremonies around the region today. The Royal British Legion is hoping to top last year's record breaking total of £40 million.

Our Defence correspondent John Andrews went to Dartington where the Military Wives Choir and Stephen Spielberg's film of War Horse have helped focus attention on Devon servicemen, past and present.

The Military Wives' Choir will help launch this year's Poppy Appeal in Devon this morning. School children and members of the Royal British Legion will be attending the ceremony at Dartington Hall near Totnes. The Choir will perform their number one hit "Wherever you are".

The Military Wives choir, who were formed at the Royal Marines base in Chivenor in North Devon, have won a classical Brit award.

The choir scooped the single of the year prize for their Christmas number one 'Wherever You Are' at London's Royal Albert Hall. The awards show will be broadcast on ITV1 on Sunday night.
