Residents in Nailsea, North Somerset, are meeting this afternoon to discuss National Grid plans for an overhead power line between Bridgwater and Avonmouth, near Bristol.
The line will be rooted underground through the Mendip Hills - classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - but many residents want the entire 37-mile line underground. The National Grid says this would be too expensive.
This afternoon's meeting, at Nailsea Methodist Church, will be chaired by Dr Liam Fox MP (Con, North Somerset), the former Defence Secretary.
