Bideford to get super-fast broadband

High-speed broadband will be available to more than ten thousand homes in Bideford next year.

The town is one of eight South West locations – and the first in North Devon – set to benefit from the latest phase of a £2.5 billion ‘super-fast’ fibre optic roll-out.

BT says the upgraded connection will offer speeds many times faster than those currently available to most UK homes and businesses, with typical download speeds of up to 80Mbps.

The UK’s current average broadband speed is 7.6Mbps, according to regulator Ofcom.
