Daley's dive partner confident of medal chances

Our reporter Richard Lawrence has been speaking to Tom Daley's diving partner in the synchronised diving events ahead of the Olympic games next month. Pete Waterfield believes the pair have a strong chance of picking up medals at the Games.

The 31 year old says he and Tom have been persistently winning top three positions in the worlds top eight so far this year. He was speaking at the opening of a mock Olympics day for primary school children in Exeter:

Devon athlete misses out on Olympic Modern Pentathlon team

Devon modern pentathlete Heather Fell has missed out on selection for the Great Britain team at the 2012 Olympics.Fell, who won the silver medal in the event in Beijing in 2008, achieved the qualifying standard but was pipped to the two spots in the team by Mhairi Spence and Samantha Murray.

Yeovil's Sam Weale was selected in the men's team along with Nick Woodbridge.

Four athletes from the University of Bath will represent Great Britain in the modern pentathlon at the 2012 Olympics.

World champion Mhairi Spence leads the women's team alongside Samantha Murray. They will both make their Olympic debuts in London.

Yeovil's Sam Weale is joined in the men's team by Nick Woodbridge for the second successive Olympics.All four athletes live and train in Bath.
