Shops will close in Sherborne this afternoon in protest at plans for a Tesco supermarket.
Traders fear the superstore could suck life from the town centre. Tesco is asking residents for their views. It proposes demolishing a hotel on the outskirts of town.
A campaign is also underway in favour of the supermarket. A consultation session will be held at the Digby Hall from 2.30pm.
Protests are being held across the region as part of a nationwide day of action against proposed NHS reforms. Union and staff members will be demonstrating outside Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. There will also be a rally at Torbay Hospital.
