Thousands are expected in the Cornish town of Fowey later as the Red Arrows, perform at the regatta.

Bad weather meant the Arrows had to cancel their planned appearance at fireworks championships in Plymouth last night - but all being well they will be soaring across West Country skies today.

Fowey's week-long event is one of the most popular in the sailing calendar. Local Troy yachts will be racing - only 28 of which have ever been built.

The Red Arrows have cancelled their display at tonight's fireworks in Plymouth due to the bad weather.

Despite the rain clearing, they say the sea mist and low cloud has made it unsafe for them to fly.

The fireworks themselves, the second night of this year's spectacular British Fireworks Championships, are still going ahead as planned.
