Tonnes of aid for refugees collected by people in Cornwall will depart for Syria later.

A 40-foot container was filled with donations in Wadebridge earlier this month and was taken to High Wycombe. Today it's shipped to help those in need.

People were so generous that organisers in Wadebridge had to take over a warehouse at the Royal Cornwall Showground.

Hundreds have been marching through the streets of Exeter in support of refugees.

In response to the escalating European refugee crisis campaigners gathered outside Exeter cathedral earlier today.

Money was collected for Refugee Support Devon, a local charity who support refugees and their families to ensure that they are given the protection they need and are able to settle successfully in the local community.

This is truly a community event. It is amazing to see the speed at which individuals and local groups have come together to show that they care about what is happening to the refugees, and to remind the government that these people are not numbers or statistics but our fellow human beings who need our help.
