Tributes have been paid to the woman who died at the King Harry Ferry in Cornwall. Ann Pewter died when a car, in which she was a passenger, went into the water from the slipway last month. Her family say her death has created an enormous hole in their lives that cannot be filled.

She and her husband had retired to the South West and had lived in Tavistock for several years. She was a keen photographer and passionately interested in wildlife.

Her family also thanked everyone in attempts to rescue her and her dogs, particularly the diver who tried to recover the car.

Tributes have been paid to a woman who died at the King Harry Ferry in Cornwall. Ann Pewter died when a car in which she was a passenger, went into the water from the slipway last month. Her family have also thanked everyone involved in attempts to rescue her and her dogs.

We have no words to express our thanks to the diver for his selfless efforts and disregard of his own personal safety in attempting to recover the car. We would also like to thank many friends, neighbours and family whose exceptional kindness and support has been invaluable as we come to terms with our loss.

Ferry slipway death - victim named

A woman who died when the car she was in rolled into the River Fal earlier this week has been identified as Ann Pewter from Tavistock.

The 74 year old woman was a passenger in the car which slipped in the water at the King Harry Ferry slipway on Wednesday afternoon. The vehicle was recovered but she and two dogs did not survive. The driver was not in the car at the time.

Investigations are continuing in Cornwall after an elderly woman died when the car she was in rolled into the River Fal from a ferry slipway.

The vehicle was waiting to board the King Harry Ferry when it came off the slipway yesterday afternoon.

The car slid into the water and sank within minutes. Two dogs that were in the car at the time also died.

Investigations after ferry slipway death

Investigations are continuing in Cornwall after an elderly woman was killed when the car she was in rolled into a river from a ferry slipway.

The vehicle was waiting to board the King Harry Ferry from the Roseland side of the River Fal when it came off the slipway yesterday afternoon. Two dogs that were in the car at the time also died.

Services at the crossing were suspended after the incident but resumed this morning.

A spokesperson for the ferry company has said their thoughts are with the friends and family of everyone involved in the tragedy.

Woman dies after car rolls off ferry slipway

A woman has died after a car rolled off a slipway into the River Fal in south-east Cornwall. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4 o'clock this afternoon at the Roseland Peninsula where the King Harry Ferry operates. The car slid into the water and sank within minutes.
