Cordon around Royal Clarence shrinks

The cordon around the fire-ravaged Royal Clarence Hotel in Exeter has now been reduced, allowing a number of shops to reopen.

The High Street is now shut from House of Fraser to the Guildhall entrance. But it has allowed some businesses to reopen this lunchtime.

Despite the easing of the cordon, some shops remain closed.

Pedestrians can now access the whole of Gandy Street, and a new section of the lower end of the High Street.

As a result, the following businesses can now open: Urban Outfitters, White Co, Burton, Evans, Vision Express, Jigsaw, Anne Summers, Whittards, Shoe Zone, Claires, Prezzo, Phone Customise, Triumph, Millets, White Stuff and Halloween Show.

M&S and Tesco remain closed.
