Devon and Cornwall Police say a device found in a Bideford charity shop is not dangerous.

Emergency Services had been called to the scene and a 100m cordon was put in place on Mill Street.

Police say the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit attended the scene and confirmed the device is not dangerous.

The device has now been disposed of and cordons have been lifted.

No member of the public was put at risk. Plans were put in place as a precaution and the residents were returned home as soon as possible.

We would like to thank the MOD for their assistance and the public for their patience whilst we established what we were dealing with.
