Devon and Cornwall Police say a device found in a Bideford charity shop is not dangerous.
Emergency Services had been called to the scene and a 100m cordon was put in place on Mill Street.
Police say the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit attended the scene and confirmed the device is not dangerous.
The device has now been disposed of and cordons have been lifted.
A number of properties have been evacuated and roads closed near Torquay coach station while police deal with a suspicious package.
