Tax payers in Somerset could be saved hundreds of thousands of pounds a year after the government gave assurances on how much VAT district councils can reclaim from the taxman.

Callington Town Councillor Andrew Long says the lack of bin collections in Cornwall are because private company Cory made too many changes when they were given a new contract.
Cornwall Council has received more than 7 thousand complaints about missed bin collections in the last week. It follows a new £125 million contract between the council and Cory Environmental which began on the 1st April.
