A multi-million pound link road for Camborne, Pool and Redruth has been approved by the Department for Transport.
The department has said it will contribute £16 million towards the £27 million cost. Cornwall Council has also been allowed to use compulsory purchase orders for the route.
It will create 6000 jobs and more than 7000 new homes. Work could start in the spring.
There's growing opposition to proposed changes to the iconic Godrevy Lighthouse in West Cornwall.
Trinity House, which owns it, wants to switch off the light and install a new structure alongside, with modern LED lights. It's feared the lighthouse, which was built in the 1800s, will become neglected.
