"Treecycle" your Christmas tree

As the festive season draws to a close, we're being asked to 'treecycle' when we get rid of our Christmas trees. Somerset Waste Partnership says they can be composted, chipped or shredded instead of sending them to landfill where it will produce greenhouse gases.

Plymouth will hold a belated event to celebrate Christmas this evening. The original lights switch on was postponed because of the weather - and although the lights are already on, highlights include the Military Wives Choir and panto star Christopher Biggins.

It's also the last evening for late night shopping in the city.

Behind the manger: spotlight on school nativity

It is that time of year when thousands of primary school children dress up in all sorts of outfits to take part in their nativity plays. An exciting time for all those involved, including teachers, parents and of the little stars themselves.

We wanted to experience one school's play, to capture all the tension and drama of a production that always lives long in the memory. We sent Claire Manning to Chaddlewood Primary School near Plymouth. If you're still not in the festive mood yet, then this will definitely put a smile on your face.
