Police investigating the discovery of a mutilated pony on Dartmoor in July said it died through natural causes.
There had been reports that the death of the pony could have been linked to satanic cults and ritualistic killing.
Devon and Cornwall Police told ITV News West Country it had consulted experts and had come to the conclusion the injuries were similar to those caused by other wild animals.
The remains of a pony have been found on Dartmoor after it was horrifically mutilated. There are other indications it may have been killed in some form of ritual.
Police are investigating the attack which happened on a night associated with pagan cults.

The body of a mutilated pony has been found on Dartmoor.
The animal, believed to be around 2 months old, was discovered on moorland at Yennadon Down in Dousland, Yelverton on Tuesday evening.
Police are investigating the possibility that the body had been left in some kind of ritualistic way.

A cyclist has died while competing in the Severn Bridge Road Race in Gloucestershire. 23-year-old Junior Heffernan from Yelverton in Devon was involved in a collision with a car during the race yesterday (Sun).
It happened on the third lap of the 10-lap race, which was immediately abandoned.
