A man arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a woman in Plymouth has been released on bail.
Police were called to a house in Devonport in the early hours of Thursday morning. The victim, thought to be a 24 year-old mother of one who lived at the address, was declared dead by paramedics.
This is a terrible crime committed against a young mother. Our thoughts are with her family and in particular with her young daughter at this time. This type of crime is thankfully very rare, especially in this area. We have dedicated significant resources to this investigation but we also know that the community will want to do all they can to help us find the offender.
The woman's daughter is safe and being cared for by family. Police are appealing for witnesses and would like to speak to anyone in the area who knew the woman socially.
