World War II bomb destroyed by Plymouth divers
Royal Navy divers from Plymouth created a 200 feet high plume of spray clearing a busy shipping lane of a large World War II bomb. The two-metre-long mine was discovered by civilian divers off the South Wales coast and could have been a major hazard to shipping.
A cordon was set up yesterday evening to ensure that the detonation went ahead safely.
