Ilfracombe named the UK's first 'courteous town'

A town in north Devon has been named as the UK’s first 'courteous town'. More than a hundred businesses in Ilfracombe took part in a new programme that recognises traders for their politeness.

The town’s success means the pilot could be rolled out to other areas keen to take part. Ann Widdecombe presented the Ilfracombe’s mayor with an award from the National Campaign for Courtesy recognising the town’s achievement.
