Some businesses in the West have told us they fear they'll go bust because of the bad weather that's plagued the summer so far. Some firms' takings are down 80 per cent. We had 5 and three quarter inches of rain last month - that's twice the average.
It was the coolest June since 1991- temperatures averaged 12.3 degrees. And it was the second dullest June on record - just 119 hours of sunshine. Today, much of the region has had a brief respite from the rain. But, as Eli-Louise Wringe reports, for many the damage has already been done.
It appears there is unlikely to be any let up in the relentless rain showers that have battered the West Country over the past few days.
