Tiverton in Devon is among 22 towns chosen from 400 entries for a Mary Portas high-street revamp.
It will share £1.5 million for town centre regeneration projects after following a review by the retail expert.
Judges were impressed with the town's ideas for the empty shops which blight so many High Streets.
