Flash flooding at Bampton

Emergency services were called to Bampton this afternoon after flash floods hit the area.

Fire engines were used to pump out a number of homes and the local supermarket.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for the area.

The main band of rain has cleared the area but river levels are still rising. Further showers are expected during Thursday and overnight into Friday with totals of 10 mm possible. This warning has been issued based upon levels at the gauging station at Bampton.
