A woman and her dog have been swept out to sea from a beach in Dorset.

The Portland search and rescue helicopter and the Lyme Regis lifeboat were scrambled after the pair were caught by a wave at Charmouth yesterday.

The owner made it back to shore unaided and uninjured. She was checked over by the helicopter winchman who is also a paramedic, but the dog - a Jack Russell called Millie, is missing.
