Marines head to Peru for Dakar Rally

A team of injured servicemen is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for a military rehabilitation centre, as one of the toughest motoring challenges on the planet gets underway today.

The Dakar Rally is starting in Peru after the event was switched to South America amid security concerns.

Ahead of the competitors is 9,000 kilometres of some of the worlds toughest terrain, and many put in their practice in the South West.
