The treacherous driving conditions are causing problems for many. The Red Cross has been using four by four vehicles to get through the snow in Somerset so patients can keep vital hospital appointments.
As our Somerset correspondent David Woodland reports, most Red Cross drivers are volunteers and they've had to borrow four-wheel drives to help those who need it most.
